Well, I was a bit sceptical before buying this Realme U1, so I bought this phone on the second sale & placed the order for the base variant ie 3GB+32GB for ₹11998. Here is the detailed review of this device with pros and cons ratings. Few camera samples are also attached to this review.
Pros:-
1) Very lightweight
2) It looks beautiful and grabs attention
3) Nice crisp display
4) Dewdrop notch looks great
5) 25 mp selfie camera
6) Dedicated Micro SD card slot
7) The performance of the phone is great
8) No heating issues
9) Screen guard (pre-applied) and the case provided
10) Face unlock and Fingerprint scanner works smoothly
Cons:-
1) Fast charging not supported
2) The rear camera struggles a lot in low light photography
3) Battery backup is not that much good
4) The back panel of the phone is having a nice glass finishing but it is very prone to scratches and it is a fingerprint magnet.

# Box contents:- In the box, you will get the handset, Charging adapter, USB cable, Back cover (transparent), Sim ejector tool and user manual.
# Design:- The design of Realme U1 is great and I bought the brave blue variant, it looks beautiful in hand and as I said earlier it is an attention grabber.
# Build Quality:- It is fully made up of plastic & and the back side of the phone is having glass finishing but it is polycarbonate and it is very prone to scratches. I will suggest you use it with the provided back cover.
# Display:- It is having 16CM (6.3) FHD+ Dewdrop full view display, with broad 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 2.5D Gorilla Glass, it gives the screen a premium look. The bezels are less and the bottom chin is very thin which makes the viewing best. The viewing experience is great but in sunlight, the display is a bit dim as compared to other Realme phones.
# Battery:- It is loaded with 3500 mAh battery, if you are a moderate user it can give you the battery backup for the 1 day or more and if you a gamer (playing high-end games) it can give you a backup for around 7 hours. It doesn't support fast charge.
* I have charged this phone from 20% to 100% the time taken was 2 hours 10 minutes.
# Audio:- The speaker of this phone is very crisp and clear. The audio through the earphones are just WOW and you will also get an opinion for the Equalizer in the phone settings.
# Performance:- The Realme U1 runs on MediaTek helio P70 with 2.1 GHz clock speed with Arm Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. All the high-end games like PUBG, Asphalt 9, Unkilled runs smoothly. You can get winner winner chicken dinner with this phone easily.
# Camera:- As it is a selfie-centric smartphone and it is backed with a 25 MP front camera and the rear camera is having 13 MP+2 MP AI camera. The front camera works best under all lighting conditions, but the rear camera struggles a lot in low light conditions. (I have attached a few camera samples)
# Security:- The face unlock and the fingerprint scanner both of them work very quick and accurate, the face unlock is very fast and the fingerprint scanner works great.
# Pricing:- The pricing of the Realme U1 starts for ₹11999 ie for the base variant (3GB + 32GB) and the other variant ie (4GB + 64 GB) is priced for ₹14999. If you are looking for a budget smartphone for ₹12000 then I will recommend you to go for the base variant of Realme U1.
#SUMMARY:-
If you are in a tight budget with ₹12000 then I will definitely recommend you to buy the base variant of the Realme U1 because at this price point it offers you a great performance, good build & looks, crisp and clear screen, loud & crisp speakers, a good front camera and a decent rear camera. If you want a good phone with gaming at a budget price range then go for this phone.
If you want a good rear camera and huge battery life then increase your budget and you can go for Redmi Note 6 pro or Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2.
Confused about the colour?
I really love the brave blue colour it looks awesome and grabs a lot of attention. And if you can it simply then choose the ambitious black.
